Plot
A documentary about the making of Ed's magnum opus, Plan 9 From Outer Space. Features interviews with many who knew him as well as those influenced by him.
'Wood'-ness
Although faultless in its depth when it comes to explaining the inner workings of Ed the filmmaker, Flying Saucers Over Hollywood does not try to capture the feel of Ed's work. It does give a great deal on insight into Ed and his work habits.
It is also interesting to note how this film illustrates the division in Ed Wood fandom over The Golden Turkey Awards. Although Harry Medved (the book's co-author) never says word one against Ed and the film carefully points out that it was their readers and not the Medveds themselves that pegged Plan 9 From Outer Space as the "Worst Film of All Time", the hostility towards the Medveds and the book is palpable.
