Plot
People keep disappearing around Lake Marsh. The whole town is in a panic as word of a monster spreads like wildfire, stirred by newspaper stories by Janet Laughton (King). The police, including Janet's fiance, Dick (McCoy), are dumbfounded. And there are other questions. Who is the strange Dr. Eric Vornoff (Lugosi) and what is he doing out at the old Willow's place...?
'Wood'-ness
This is arguably Ed's best film. The plot is decent, the acting (mostly) is on-key, and Bela is older, but sharp as the mad Dr. Vornoff. While some of the sets are simplistic, some are quite effective. And even the simple ones aren't nearly as offensive as some make them out to be.

This is the closest Ed came to getting it right. With a working octopus, a better laboratory set and maybe a better leading man, this could have been excellent. As it is, it's a good, fun film. A definite buy.
Best Line
"Home? I have no home. Hunted. Despised. Treated like an animal. The jungle is my home. But I shall show the world that I can be it's master!" - Dr. Eric Vornoff
